A Canada PRO deposit is a provincial benefit payment that shows up in your account as “Canada PRO.”

It’s paid by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on behalf of Ontario or Alberta and usually comes from one of these programs:

  • Ontario: Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB)

  • Alberta: Alberta Child and Family Benefit (ACFB)

These payments are tax-free benefits meant to help with the cost of living (like energy, property tax, and raising kids).

  • Ontario Sales Tax Credit (OSTC)

For 2025, OTB payment dates are:

  • January 10, 2025

  • February 10, 2025

  • March 10, 2025

If your yearly entitlement is small, you might get one lump-sum payment instead of monthly, but it will still show as a Canada PRO deposit.

Canada PRO Deposit Dates in Alberta (ACFB – 2025)

In Alberta, Canada PRO deposits usually come from the Alberta Child and Family Benefit (ACFB), which supports lower and middle-income families with kids under 18.

For 2025, ACFB payment dates are:

  • February 27, 2025

  • May 27, 2025

  • August 27, 2025

  • November 27, 2025

These payments are issued quarterly, by cheque or direct deposit.

How to Check If You Qualify

You may be eligible for a Canada PRO deposit if you:

  • Live in Ontario or Alberta

  • File an annual tax return

  • Meet the income and family criteria for OTB (Ontario) or ACFB (Alberta)

You don’t usually “apply” separately—CRA looks at your tax return and pays you automatically if you qualify.
